Make More Money with Google Adsense in Forums

Adsense can be a great way to monetize forums, but there are a couple “best practices” that I’ve discovered, and that you should test.

  1. For all users, display a 728×90 adsense block just below the navbar.
  2. For all users, try using a borderless 468×60 Adsense block at the bottom of the first post on each page of a thread.
  3. For guests only, display a large adsense block beneath the first post.

It’s also important to use Google’s section targeting tags around each post to place targeting emphasis on the post content.

I’ve found that this approach maximizes Adsense revenue while minimizing user annoyance.

And one extra tip: even though vBulletin and other forum software provides a page that shows recent posts, it’s best to display a box showing most recent or most active discussions on every page of the forum. This gives the site a much more active feel and ensures that posts in less frequented forums still receive attention.

Very nice tips.
I heard that adsense is not giving good results on forum due to the ads blind. Forum visitors are returned visitors while adsense usually best to monetize fresh visitors. I might be wrong since I don’t have a forum myself.

this is a great way to monetize forums with adsense… the great thing is that you realize the difference between users and guests.

I have tried this before and made little or no money compared to the amount of time spent in setting it up.
But I guess I might work for someone else. Let me know if it goes well for you.

Any one here a football/soccer fan? I’m eagerly waiting for this year’s FIFA Confederations Cup 2009, I think it’s being held in South Africa this mid June. USA is taking part in the 8 teams tournament, best of all we will also see Brazil, Spain and Italy! I think it’s going to be great!

Hi Everyone,
I have a carpet cleaning business in Houston,TX that was doing pretty good until the economy went bad, and with it my clientele. I have a website for the business but I dont
know what I have to do the get it to show up in a search. Right now it’s somewhere in the yahoo/google netherworld (LOL).

Is there someone on here that can give me some insight or know of anyone that coud give me insight on how I can get my local website on the front
page of a Yahoo or Google search to increase my business without it costing me 5 or 10k $$$? If so please share with me.

I thank you and my hungry over-eating children thank you.

thanks,

Hey I’m new and I guess this is as good a place as any to see if anyone knows of a good loss mitigation training course?

I keep hearing about people making tons of money becoming foreclosure consultants.
So, If you have any info or you have purchased a good course, please share. I’m retired and looking for a home based business that I can earn a decent income with.

Thanks,

The money is not in the list but rather in the forum. I know a lot of webmasters making good money with forums. They are not dead as most thing with web 2.0 and all.

An alternative to adsense is msn. Adsense have been paying crap lately due to smart pricing.
