$1,000 Contest Winning Ideas Announced
Posted by Scott on 14th December, 2007 | 17 commentsWinner: Funnyexamanswers.com with his elementary SEO rel=nofollow tip. After reading this suggestion, I realized that I’m not using rel=nofollow ANYWHERE, and I’ve started paying more attention to where I’m sending link juice.
Another Idea I thought of, in a sort of related way would be to provide “world photos” - a site that houses photographs that are geographically linked to a co-ordinate. That way everyone could compare eiffel tower photographs or discuss land
I had already thought of doing a photo sharing gallery at PhotoPost.com (either johnsmith.photopost.com, or a huge portal gallery indexing photos from all PhotoPost powered sites), but props to Woody for thinking of this because it’s a very evolutionary idea.
Runner-up ideas that I really liked:
Chipseo with his “I can’t find any about pages on any of your sites” tip. Yes I agree, and this isn’t intentional.
Fili - optimizing robots.txt for wordpress.
Turk Hit Box – Using icons instead of repeat “Very Satisfied”, and “Satisfied” text on ResellerRatings reviews pages to improve keyword density.
From the looks of it, there are an absolute ton of SEO savvy

Wow, I sure am glad I sent you that e-mail at the 11th hour, Scott.
Nice idea running this competition, no follow is so often over looked and it’s really nice to see people starting to implement it more freely now to funnel google juice where they want it.
You’ll have to let me know how it pans out for you and this prize comes as a nice birthday present for me as my birthday was on the 12th.
If you need any more SEO related help, feel free to drop me a line and perhaps I can do some directory submission and link bait for you. =)
well done mate. Can’t believe you won with that simple tip
Thanks for the contest because I got a ton of excellent ideas myself. I can say I was a culprit of a lot of the things that were suggested.
All of those sound like some great ideas. They got my own wheels turning in my head too. Time to go check my sites for NoFollow
Congrats to the other winners - itself this contest was a good business idea
Look forward to seeing the results in practice!

Congrats to the other two winners, and everybody else who contributed. There were many good ideas.
Look forward to the implementations, Scott.
Well done to the winners, I said from the start this was a great competition.
The best bit is that we have all learnt something which we can consider for our own sites.
I wonder how easy it will be to assess the value of this advice? I am sure a paid SEO would have cost you more!
just a bit more! lol!
plus scott hasnt paid us yet :0 nudge nudge

I sent out all the payments a day or so ago. Check the address you gave me…
I got paid :D. This is why I never keep money in my paypal account, I am going to end up with $500 in ebay junk now.
I hear you on that one. If I leave money in my PayPal account, my wife thinks it is fair game.
Well, you should also start by removing plugin bits like Popularity Contest question mark linking to alexking website.
