The Danasoft sign is an image that people can put on their profile pages (myspace, facebook), blogs, and sites, with custom quotes. It’s popular because the sign works like a mirror, showing each visitor their IP, host, web browser, and city location, but never showing that information to anyone else except the viewer.
1 Million people have created a custom sign to date, and the Danasoft sign images are viewed between 60 and 90 million times per month in thousands of myspace profile pages, facebook apps, blogs, websites, and especially in forum signatures. Impressive as hell, yes, but until recently very hard to monetize. But now, companies like Slide and RockYou (through their publisher program) have brought cash to social apps, by partnering with big name advertisers to get their brand messages out to the masses as well as tightly targeted demographics. This opens up great possibilities for Danasoft, as well as for any developers looking to create similar apps.

Just think if they add some high target ads inside their “widget” box, wow!
A lot less people would be using it. That I can guarantee. Kind of like those visitor counter boxes that people use.
I have been reading about widgets being the thing for affiliate marketing, widgets like OpenKapow and and Sproutswidgets come to mind when I read your post.

That is a nice number of page views for an app/widget that has really not needed to have been updated for years.

lol I don’t live in gainesville. The danasoft sign acts like a mirror - it tells you your location in real time. When you load this page, you see your location. When I load it, I see my location, etc. My company owns danasoft.com.

I found this tool years ago and it was great for using on forums that I belonged to, great stuff.

Nice. A bit off on the location but close enough. I guess they must be using the geo database from max mind. A good way of revenue generation is if they can contextually embed affiliate links based on the site content.
